365 Gratitude Project – Day 43: Survival

February 12, 2017

I’m struggling today to find something to be grateful for…there are days when it’s just hard to find the positive, when the details of a long and fruitless day blend into a series of insignificant banalities and nothing great or inspiring leaps to the forefront to proclaim itself as the raison d’être du jour. The day wasn’t precisely hard – busy, certainly – the sunshine brought out many visitors to the Zoo today. There were some setbacks: a bill overlooked, forgotten, and consequences to be paid; some poor choices come home to roost; and of course the ongoing national political troubles. As the day draws closer to its conclusion I find myself drifting into a general malaise, a feeling all too familiar of late, and it occurs that I haven’t written my entry for the day and I have no idea what it should be. So…today I’m grateful to have muddled through without any major damage done, to have survived moderately unscathed and made it one more day. Some days that’s all you can hope for. Mission accomplished.
