I’m grateful for language, for words, for communication. Words express ideas, thoughts, questions and answers. They give meaning, portray intent, convey emotion and narrate our inner and outer lives. I love the written word – books frame my life and reading other people’s words impacts my living in profound ways, shaping my thoughts, guiding my decisions and clarifying my worldview. I have traveled to many lands and worlds through the written word. I love poetry, the shape and flow of words, the way words are used as media to paint great landscapes and portraits of life and thought. I love the spoken word – I listen daily to the radio, I subscribe to podcasts and borrow audiobooks. I close my eyes and fall beneath the spell of voice and timbre and give myself over to story, song, the poetry and patter of words. I listen and learn about the world around me, politics, art, history, sports, music, science, people and places, joys and sorrows, life. This blog is an expression of myself in word, a glimpse into my psyche, my mind and heart.
